With a career spanning over thirty eight years in the UK electricity supply industry, including thirty years as a Senior Authorised Person, Geoff has held a wide range of posts encompassing operations, construction, maintenance, commissioning, network planning, training, and operational health and safety. Following a period as a Distribution Planning Manager in Merseyside, Geoff took up a post as the Operational Training Manager which included the development and delivery of HV training to ESI staff, contractors, and to external customer HV engineers. His eight years of lecturing experience includes teaching electrical health and safety at degree level.

Geoff spent the last five years in a health and safety role, carrying out compliance auditing on operational staff, revising and updating operational safety rules and procedures, and providing expert guidance to accident and incident investigations. During this period he was seconded as an operational safety consultant to the Energy Networks Association Switchgear Advisory Panel.
