New and Emerging Technologies
for the Shipping Industry
The shipping industry is facing some fundamental changes. There is the prediction of world growth that means more freight, coupled with the demands of increased efficiency, new energy sources, and improved safety as the seas become more congested.
The efficiency demands bring together pressure for improved systems and technologies with better asset management and oversight.
Above all this is the regulatory agenda that targets the industry on a global level, yet with regional rules appearing to add to the complex situation where technology in one region may not be suitable for another.
These are themes being discussed in every quarter of the shipping industry, yet not in a consistent way. Efficiencies in one market have not always translated into improvements elsewhere.
The
4th Annual Middle East ShipTech 2011 Conference brings the ship owners, managers and systems makers together to debate these changes. It is a forum for debate with an eye firmly set on what technology is about to reach commercial availability, what is going to be available in the near future, and which technologies are needed.
The conference is growing from strength to strength as the region’s leading interactive meeting for shipowners, legislators and technology companies.
