Saudi Arabian policymakers and stakeholders have made great strides in recent years to improve business practices and increase overall investment.
Through investor incentives, the formation of the new economic cities being built throughout the Kingdom will only enhance overall investment in a number of key sectors and will increase the role of the private sector in the Kingdom’s economy.
In addition to these incentives, accession to the World Trade Organisation (WTO), a scale back on minimum capital requirements and a dramatic reduction in administration obligation has made Saudi Arabia one of the top global reformers in making the conduct of business easier. The effort is already paying dividends. The Saudi Arabia General Investment Authority (SAGIA) says that foreign direct investment rose 51 per cent in 2006 to more than $18bn, while domestic investments rose 9 per cent to $33bn.
The Saudi Investment Summit taking place on 14 – 18 June 2008 at the Jeddah Hilton Hotel, Jeddah is a large scale event promoting foreign direct investment as well as domestic investment within an economy that is rapidly growing and seeking major investment in a number of areas.
The Summit will concentrate on a number of key industry sectors within the Kingdom and will endeavour to tackle all the current issues and developments within these important markets through a series of presentations and discussions.
