Professor Alan Patching is internationally regarded as one of Australia’s most outstanding leaders, consultants and business presenters in his field. Alan Patching is a quantity surveyor by training and holds Fellowships of the Australian Institute of Quantity Surveying and the Australian Institute of Management. He is a Member of the Australian Institute of Building and the Institute of Arbitrators and Mediators of Australia. In 2001 he was awarded the coveted President’s Medal from the Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors for his service to the institute and the industry. He is adjunct professor in the project management department of the University of Technology Sydney.
Perhaps he is best known as Chief Executive Officer of the entity which owned Sydney’s Olympic Stadium and as the stadium project director. He was also project director for the $280 million redevelopment of Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane for the 2003 Rugby World Cup and several billion dollars worth of high profile projects from a range of industries. Alan is also regarded as an expert negotiator and in the early nineties negotiated the country’s largest ever property deal (to that time) valued at $1.4 billion, and its largest commercial lease.
Alan is the author of a number of books and audio albums and has shared the international speaking platform with Dr Tom Peters, Dr Denis Waitley, Dr Wayne Dyer, Zig Ziglar and Robert Kiyosaki. His major interest is educating project and corporate leaders to understand the importance of stirring purposebased passion within organisations of all sizes from teams to multinational corporations to provide a greater sense or satisfaction to their people and increase the potential for delivery of project and corporate results.
