About the Event

As technology rapidly advances, and as consumers move toward a so-called “cashless society”, payments have increasingly become an important part of everyday life. The next generation of payments are widely being used in other parts of the world from the United States to Europe, parts of Africa and across Asia. And, the trend is catching on in the Middle East.

Developments in next generation payments provide a new opportunity to grab a bigger piece of the banked and unbanked market share.

Do you want to be an early adopter and capitalise on a quickly advancing market?

If so, join us for IIR’s inaugural Next Generation Payments Summit, perfectly positioned at a time when the GCC is advancing with payment technology. Next Generation Payments will address the challenges when implementing these new technologies and highlight the business benefits that next generation payments will make to your organisation.

Drawing on industry knowledge from those closest to the action, the theme and topics for Next Generation Payments have been meticulously researched and validated enabling you to strengthen your understanding of the key developments and trends that will drive innovation in the region through the convergence of financial services and emerging technologies.

International pioneers and early adopters from the world’s leading financial institutions as well as; telecom operators, retailers, transport officials card manufacturers and technology vendors will converge on Dubai from 21-23 February 2010 for Next Generation Payments; the most ground-breaking and revolutionary networking event in your calendar.

As participants, you will not only hear from some of the leading minds in the industry, but will be able to put questions to the experts and take part in lively debates. The programme has been designed to include as many networking opportunities as possible to enable you to share your goals, challenges and experiences and collaborate with your peers to find solutions to your biggest challenges so you can implement best practice strategies upon returning to the office.

Driving Innovation Through Convergence of Financial Services and Emerging Technologies

Message from the Chairman

“Once an exclusive function of the global banking community, the development of the Payments Sector as a major component of the wider financial services industry continues apace. But now things are very different. I think it was Bill Gates who first dared to suggest that whilst there may be a need for banking, there was not necessarily a continuing requirement for bankers! And, as this programme will confirm, the development of the payments sector has opened the way for many credible and well established ‘non banking’ players to take a stake in a developing business opportunity. Retail store operators, metropolitan transport authorities and internet retailers are amongst the many relatively new players that are now playing leading roles in a business without boundaries. I am delighted that IIR have put together this event, which will provide attendees with examples of the latest thinking in a strategically important sector.”
