Cargo Claims Management

This workshop is designed to provide participants with practical and in-depth knowledge of managing marine cargo claims. In particular, the delegates will comprehend the following areas pertinent to managing cargo claims:
Settlement of losses with promptitude and fairness requiring broad understanding of:
• Basic principles including utmost good faith, insurable interest, indemnity, subrogation, contribution and proximate cause • Sound knowledge of law of marine Insurance as codified in Marine Insurance Act • The coverage provided by Institute cargo clauses and the exclusions which have bearing on settlement of claims, • Proximate cause of the loss and the amount payable (commercial indemnity) • Claims payable abroad - World-wide facilities available for survey and adjustment of losses through claims settling agents, Lloyds agents and average adjusters
The workshop will involve presentations, group discussions, practical case studies on different types of claims including, general cargo, bulk oil, frozen food and general average. The ultimate goal of the workshop is to equip the participants with practical knowledge to manage the cargo claims effectively and efficiently. |
