Mr Asfour has spent the past decade working in areas of economic development, investment, and global trade. Prior to his appointment as the CEO of the Jordan Investment Board, Mr. Asfour was a Senior Economic & Investment Advisor for the Prime Minister of Jordan and was responsible for providing the PM with objective advice on contemporary economic, investment and financial developments, the suitability and vulnerability of current economic policy settings, the administration of fiscal and monetary policies, as well as domestic investment and international trade and investment issues.

Dr Mousa Ali Alhamdan Alzyoud
Acting Director General, Natural Resources Authority (NRA), Jordan

Dr Alzyoud is currently the acting Director General of the NRA. He has played a leading role in restructuring the Natural Resources Authority by reviewing the legal, regulatory and institutional framework towards drafting new laws and an optimal structure. Dr Alyzoud has also spearheaded the promotion of open blocks for oil & gas exploration for international oil companies and other projects including the Data Banking System and Online Data Room and various international bid rounds.

Prof Kamal A’raj

Before joining Jordan Atomic Energy Commission (JAEC) in March 2008 as Commissioner for International Cooperation, Prof Araj served as the Government Advisor for Nuclear Energy for about a year. Before that and since 2006, Dr Araj was the scientific advisor for King Abdullah Development Bureau (KADDB). Before returning to Jordan, Dr Araj worked as a senior advisor at the IAEA in Vienna for 5 years.

Dr Maabreh has held many key positions in Jordan’s power landscape including former Advisor
to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Jordan and before that he was advisor to the Ministry of Housing, Electricity and Water In Oman.

Dr Maabreh’s previous enrollments include key contributions as a team member of the Technical Working Groups - restructuring, privatisation and IPP projects in Jordan’s electricity sector and also has leading publications in these areas.

He has been with Royal Dutch Shell for 28 years with postings in The Netherlands, Egypt, Syria, Gabon, Oman, and Nigeria. He has been Chief Reservoir Engineer in Oman, Gas Development Manager, Asset Development Manager and Non-Operated Ventures Manager in Nigeria and Value Assurance Consultant Global in The Netherlands. He has extensive experience in oil and gas field development in the Middle East and Africa.

Eng Azmi Al-Said Khreisat

Azmi Al-Said Khreisat was the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan until November of 2006. Under his leadership the comprehensive restructuring of the country's power sector was completed, the reform of the petroleum sector was designed and initiated, the natural gas supply agreement between Jordan and Egypt was concluded, and a 393 km pipeline was built on a BOOT basis.

Hanna Zaghloul

In addition to being CEO at Kawar (eco-friendly project developer company) Mr Zaghloul is a co-founder to the EDAMA initiative, Jordan’s blueprint for a green economy, Chairman of the SME Innovation taskforce at EDAMA, and a founding member of EDAMA business association.

He directly leads several projects in renewable energy including “Shams Ma’an” a 100 MW photovoltaic project at the southern part of Jordan. Mr. Zaghloul is particularly interested in “Shamsi,” a community scale distributed renewable energy project, currently in the design phase, that will allow households to become clean energy produces combined with smart grid technologies and energy efficiencies.

Walid Shahin
Senior Expert Energy Efficiency, National Center for Research & Development, The Hashemite Kingdom Of Jordan

Mr Shahin’s work focuses on energy efficiency, audits, energy management and policy. He has coordinated several projects that relate to energy efficiency and renewable energy, such as the “REACT” Self-Sufficient Renewable Energy Air-Conditioning Systems for Mediterranean Countries (REACt) and Promotion of a New Generation of Solar Thermal Systems in the MPC Project (SOLATERM). Martin White

Martin White has some 30 years experience in the natural gas sector of which 17 were in LNG. In Lasmo he was responsible for all Natural Gas, LNG commercial and business development including LNG sales from Indonesia and LNG re-gasification terminal developments in Asia. He has worked extensively in the Middle East and Asia. Assignments include: Commercial Manager West to East Pipeline in China. He was the Project Manager of the original Pakistan LNG project as well as the current Mashal development and the originator of the concept project development for Dragon LNG in the UK. Martin is now leading business developments in Asia for 4GasAsia, the independent LNG re-gas terminal developer.

Martin Amison

From London, Martin leads the International Department of the law firm Trowers & Hamlins LLP. The department serves many clients from around the world including in particular the Middle East and North Africa.  He oversees the firm's 6 offices in the Middle East region (in Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Dubai, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Oman), deals with the firm's connections into other important overseas markets such as Jordan and runs a London based international projects team focussing on energy and infrastructure. Martin lived and worked overseas for approximately eight years including 4 years each in Bahrain and Oman and has been involved with the provision of international and cross-border legal advice for the last 29 years.

Martin led the legal teams working for the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources and the Natural Resources Authority on all of Jordan's oil shale concessions as well as drafting and negotiating the suite of contracts for the Jordan Gas Transmission Pipeline.  He advised on the current Energy Sector Master Plan; Jordan's renewable wind energy projects; downstream restructuring and is involved with a proposed oil shale fired IPP.  He also advised in relation to Jordan's Risha gas concession.

Martin sits on a number of international trade bodies.  He regularly lectures on the subjects of energy and infrastructure projects  and cross border trade and investment.

Andres Anijalg
Project Director, Enefit´s Jordan Oil Shale, Jordan

Mr. Andres Anijalg has been the Project Director for Enefit´s Jordan oil shale projects since the projects were started in 2006. As the Project Director, Mr. Anijalg is responsible for developing both, the 40,000 bbl/d Shale Oil Production and the 600-900MW Direct Combustion Power Projects in Jordan. Mr. Anijalg is currently heading a team of ca 10 people with different professional backgrounds who are directly involved in the Jordan Project. Mr. Anijalg has also been heavily involved in other international oil shale development projects of Enefit (e.g Morocco, Egypt, China). From 1996 – 2006 Mr. Anijalg worked in the Financial Services sector, offering Private Banking Investment Solutions and heading the Investment Services Development Department at various Banking Corporations. Mr. Anijalg has experience in working for an international insurance corporation in Switzerland and for a chemical industry in Germany. Mr. Anijalg has a MBA degree from the University of Tartu, Estonia, and has been studying at the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland.
