This year’s JIOSS saw more than 320 of the country’s top executives and international oil shale stake holders from both the private and public sector - come together for 2 days of high impact conference and networking.
The International Jordan Oil Shale Symposium opened to discuss international co-operation in oil shale utilisation in the region and evaluate oil shale opportunities. The opening ceremony kicked off with an opening speech from HE Alaa Al Batayneh, Minister of Energy And Mineral Resources, Jordan, welcome address from HE Dr. Mousa Alzyoud, Director General Of the Natural Resources Authority and opening keynote address from the Secretary General of the World Energy Council, Christoph Frei who addressed the potential of oil shale in the global energy mix and industry expectations. The conference discussed progress in international projects, Jordan’s schedule for commercialization and explored advanced technologies enabling further exploration and exploitation of oil shale resources. There was in depth analysis of the scale of resources, strategies and policies across the globe, economics and investment challenges and the management of environmental & social Issues.
