Programme Methodology
This four day leadership programme is highly interactive. The course has a practical focus and there will be integrated activities, case studies and group syndicate work to support the theoretical content. Your learning will be enhanced by the use of psychometric instruments.
Specific Learning Objectives
• Identify your leadership goals and develop a personal development plan incorporating them, which identifies the actions,
resources and timeframes you need to achieve your goals
• Understand the differences between management and leadership and the characteristics of good leadership
• Identify the skills that underpin the success of effective leaders, and your own leadership strengths and weaknesses,
and use this information to plan your leadership development
About the series
• Understand the factors involved in making the decision to hire more staff, including reviewing the current and future
skills and knowledge requirements for your area of responsibility (i.e. team, section, department, etc.)
• Know how to participate in the selection, recruitment and onboarding process for new staff to ensure that you get the
best person for the job
• Identify the key elements of an effective strategic plan, and know how to develop a business plan that identifies and
links goals and activities to your organisation’s strategic priorities
• Explore how to create a culture that supports effective team working and participative decision making, and how to
motivate the team to identify ideas for new products/ services/ways of working and improvements, encouraging them to
take acceptable risks and to learn from their mistakes
• Discover how to take a structured approach to analysing a problem, developing solutions that will achieve the right
outcome and planning the actions to implement the preferred solution
• Take a simple, structured approach to providing feedback and know how to establish a work environment that thrives
on feedback
• Explain the importance of developing effective professional relationships, assess the effectiveness of your key workplace
relationships and create a plan to develop and maintain them
