Between every employer and every employee there is a contract – a written document which commits each party to abide by the relevant country’s labour law and company policies and procedures. And whilst this written contract is important, it is not the only ‘contract’ that exists between employers and employees.
There is also the ‘psychological contract’, and it is this contract that drives the sense of affiliation and belongingness within employees.
So, if we are dealing with ‘emotional connectivity’, a piece of paper isn’t going to help. And if this contract isn’t upheld, it is likely that the employee will not have a sense of engagement with the organisation. If not handled appropriately, this can lead to a complete breakdown in the relationship. But if this contract isn’t written, how can you know what it covers?
IIR has introduced its brand new and updated, with GCC relevance content, Employee Relations (ER) course to help you understand the challenges facing organisations today, and to help you develop the skills you need to ensure that your organisation and its managers are upholding their end of both the written and psychological contracts.
So often, we hear of people leaving jobs they love or organisations they had enjoyed working for because of the relationships at work, because of un-dealt-with grievances, because of poor corporate communication. But organisations do not have to be like this. By creating and executing an employee relations policy, many of the problems that plague organisations can be prevented before they happen!
This course will be led by the experienced and acclaimed HR expert, Charles Wilson. Through five days of interaction, case studies, theory sessions and exercises, you will develop the skills you need to make effective ER a reality in your organisation.
Learn how to create and implement an effective ER policy and save money by motivating and retaining your top employees!
“The course was extremely well designed and definitely added value to ER day-to-day problem solving ability.”

Whilst ER is an integral part of HR, this course is not just for HR staff. The importance of high quality ER has a direct impact upon levels of service, profit, standards, business ethics, corporate social responsibility and corporate governance. As such it is important for any manager in charge of staff to understand the latest thinking regarding ER.
