CSR Assessment Processes
All companies have some basic CSR programmes in place, even if they don’t realise it or manage them formally. This session aims to help companies to understand their existing CSR strengths and to show how they can build on even very basic foundations to create effective CSR strategies.

Prioritising
The key to prioritising CSR issues effectively can lie in the risk that each poses to the overall success of your company. This session will show how non-financial risk analysis can be used to prioritise key CSR issues:
• CSR and your Operations: OHS, EHS and TQM Systems
• CSR and your Customers: Implementing responsible CRM Systems
• CSR and Human Resources: how you can use your CSR policy to recruit new and
fresh talent
• CSR and the Supply Chain: how to monitor and influence your supply chain risks
• CSR and Risk Management: managing operational, financial and reputation risk
• CSR and building brand awareness: using good CSR to differentiate your company
Filling The Gaps
Companies can learn a great deal from the examples set by others. This session will showcase some best practice examples from leading companies on how they identified CSR gaps and how they went about filling those gaps. There will also be examples of how companies can work with NGOs and community groups to build sustainable programmes to address social and environmental issues

About Your Expert Workshop Leaders
Dr Geoffrey Williams is a Founder and Managing Director of OWW Consulting in Malaysia and Singapore. He has designed and directed numerous research projects for the UK Government (DTI), European Commission (DG-Research), and European Standards Agency among others. He has also worked with private companies and charities including PA Consulting Group, leading UK law firm Allen & Overy, and the Wellcome Trust UK. He is a member of the EU Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (EUMCCI) CSR Committee.
Geoffrey has held many academic positions including at London Business School, Pembroke College and University of Oxford. He has published extensively in leading academic journals worldwide.
He is an Associate Member of the Centre for Business, Organisations and Society, School of Management, University of Bath, United Kingdom and was elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (RSA) in 2004. Geoffrey’s most recent research has focused on Corporate Social Responsibility in a global context and in particular, on the factors that determine the success of CSR initiatives in different socio-political contexts. He has also published original research on the profile of SRI investors in a cross-country setting and the factors that determine the decision to invest in SRI products.
Geoffrey also has an active research interest in the development of practical management tools for the assessment and implementation of successful CSR systems within companies, which led to the development of the OWW Responsibility™ CSR Assessment Tool. OWW Consulting has also established the first SRI Index in Malaysia and also the first SRI Index for Singapore.
Arshad Adam is a founding member of OWW Consulting and was appointed Finance Director in 2006.
Arshad was formerly Assistant Professor of Accounting and Deputy Director of the MA/MSc programmes at Nottingham University Business School, Malaysia Campus. He is a Chartered Accountant and a Gold Medal Graduate in Business Administration from the International Islamic University Malaysia. He holds an MSc (with Distinction) in International Business Management from the University of Nottingham. He has extensive international experience in training finance professionals in accounting qualifications for ACCA and CIMA throughout South East Asia.
Arshad has extensive commercial experience and has direct personal experience of overseas investment projects including outsourcing and cost consultancy services to international clients mainly from East Africa and French speaking countries. Outsourcing projects have been conducted in South East Africa, China, South Asia, the Middle East, Europe, Turkey and Zimbabwe. His professional work as an accountant has involved audit and “off-audit” experience in operations management and cost management in Mauritius, Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore.
