Workshop Overview In the 21st century the global energy system has become more interdependent and vulnerable to a wide spectrum of contemporary threats ranging from powerful storms, major accidents, as well as criminal and/or politically motivated cyber and physical attacks to oil and gas infrastructure. Consequences of failures are becoming more and more global in reach – causing disproportionate effects from the local to transnational sphere. In addition, much investment is needed to improve ageing infrastructure and build new infrastructure to meet growing global demand for oil and gas products. To meet today’s challenges, stakeholders from the public and private sector need to develop ways to work together to enhance resiliency. Thus, this workshop will address emerging threats and issues to oil & gas infrastructure and examine countryspecific case studies of energy infrastructure security plans that have incorporated a multi-sector governance approach. |
|
Key Topics
- Overview of emerging threats to oil & gas infrastructure in MENASA
- Case studies on country-specific energy infrastructure security plans (successes and failures)
- Identification of contemporary tools to harmonise protection and security efforts amongst stakeholders
|
Benefits Attendees will come away from the workshop with a concrete understanding of new tools and concepts for addressing contemporary threats to the oil and gas sector.
