Exploring The Role Of Recognition Programmes As Part Of The Overall Reward Mix

“A Pat On The Back And A Round Of Applause”

Facilitated by: Lesley Harvey, Director, The Human Edge, UK

Workshop Timings: Registration for this workshop is at 08:00. The workshop will commence promptly at 08:30 and conclude at 14:30. There will be two short breaks for refreshments at appropriate times and lunch will be served at the end of the day’s sessions.

Workshop Overview

It is all too easy when thinking about reward to focus only on the monetary elements – the salary, benefits and perks which we offer our employees. However just as important as the monetary elements are the ‘hidden’ aspects of reward – in particular recognition programmes, which say “thank you!” Recognition programmes demonstrate to your employees that you do notice and value the contribution they make.

This workshop will explore the role that recognition programmes play within the overall reward mix, and the links between those programmes and business objectives. You will discover what recognition is and is not, and finally you will look at some case studies of recognition programmes, taking a look at what other companies do that works and examining some programmes which are different to some of the more familiar and more conventional ‘Employee of the Month’ or similar initiatives.

You will work on developing some ideas for recognition programmes that are innovative, practical and effective for your own organisations and will come away with a clear understanding of how those programmes can be targeted to support particular aspects of business strategy and corporate culture.

At this workshop you will:
Gain a full understanding of recognition – from concept through to
implementation – allowing you to understand the implications of
introducing recognition programmes in your own organisation
Develop a programme which could be used within your own
         organisation
Share experiences and ideas with other delegates on the work
shop to build your awareness and understanding of the
         different recognition alternatives available
Outline the benefits of recognition programmes in your
organisation so that you can “sell” the idea to management
