Overview

Being passionate about strategy is your first step to success, but having a strategy is one thing; implementing and executing effectively is another story!

Over the last few years the Balanced Scorecard Forum in Dubai has become the annual meeting ground for strategic professionals. It is the only Forum in the Middle East where Dr Kaplan and Dr Norton participate LIVE and IN PERSON for two full days giving you their latest research, thought provoking material. And they are available to network with you about your challenges.

In 2010 we are truly focused on giving you the practical way forward to achieve strategic agility through the use of the Balanced Scorecard. We have asked over 100 professionals in the region what their top strategic challenges are in the current climate and what they would like to see included in this year’s Forum. With this in mind, I am truly pleased to bring you this timely programme. We have incorporated many new features to ensure that regardless of whether you have attended the Forum in the past or if this is the first time you will be joining us, you will emerge with powerful lessons and tools to develop, manage and execute YOUR strategy.

We are pleased to introduce Joey Fitts for the FIRST TIME IN THE MIDDLE EAST, co-author of Drive Business Performance: Enabling a Culture of Intelligent Execution. According to Guru Tom Davenport, “If you want to understand, explain, and predict your company’s performance, buy and read this book.”

I wanted to share with you some of the comments we received from last year’s Forum:

“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the event. IIR is a distinguished training centre which is well organised with highly distinguished speakers. That is why I am here. It’s still early days but we need to introduce the Balanced Scorecard more in Saudi, particularly within the government sector. We’re thinking about implementing it at the medical centre and are looking for help with ideas on how to facilitate development. What I’ve heard today will be extremely useful.”

Yousef Al Gablan

King Abdulaziz Medical City, KSA

“This is far better than any other Balanced Scorecard event I’ve ever attended and I’ve found it very useful. I didn’t expect to be so enthusiastic to learn but I’m finding that I’ll be able to apply what I’m learning even though I work in the government rather than the private sector. Everything was explained so well, in a very attractive and simple way.”

Hand Al-Ghafli

Department of Finance, UAE

“This is my first time at the conference and it’s been perfect but very intense! I’m the MD of Global Energy and deal with utilities and power and so it’s been very relevant. We’ve been trying to implement the Balanced Scorecard for about a year now, on and off but to no avail. I never really understood it properly before, but now all has become clear and I’m confident of success!”

Magdy Saleh

Global Energy, Egypt

I encourage you to read through this year’s exciting programme thoroughly; there are many new benefits and features for you to gain by attending the Forum. I wanted to bring your particular attention to the interactive team challenge which will take place on the afternoons of both Forum days. This has been developed to provide you with the opportunity to work as a team, which is the fundamental component of succeeding in strategy execution through the use of the Balanced Scorecard.
