XBRL Masterclass –
The New Reality Of Financial Reporting
Masterclass Timings
– Registration will commence at 08:00 with the masterclass commencing at 08:30 and concluding at 14:30. There will be two breaks at appropriate times for refreshments and lunch will be served at the end of the day.
Masterclass Introduction
XBRL is a standards-based way to communicate business and financial information. It is increasingly becoming recognised as a reality that the accounting profession must face up to. This intensive workshop will show you how you can apply XBRL in your organisation to improve your reporting timelines and ultimately drive your organisation forward.
Masterclass Outline
Session One
– Introduction to XBRL and the business case for its application
Session Two
– Overview of XBRL architecture including specific taxonomy issues and instance documents
Session Three
– Interactive break out and guided task session.
During this facilitated group work session you will develop a sample XBRL taxonomy relevant to your own organisation and develop this into an instance document
Session Four
– IFRS and XBRL working together - IFRS XBRL taxonomies will be explored and discussed in light of your own experiences during the practical group session
Session Five
– XBRL for accountants including accountancy aspects in XBRL taxonomies and XBRL-GL
Session Six
– Future accounting systems - XBRL-enabled out of the box
Review of outcomes, personal action planning and close of workshop
Facilitated By:
Kurt P. Ramin
is an advisor to the International Accounting Committee Foundation (IASCF) and is based at the IASB in London. Prior to that he was a Partner in PricewaterhouseCoopers’ New York office and served as Chief Financial Officer to several different companies in the USA and Germany. Kurt Ramin holds an MBA from Central Michigan University. He is a CPA (New York) and a member of the Financial Executives International (FEI) and their Globalization Oversight Committee (GOC). He has published articles on International Financial Reporting, XBRL and Capital Markets issues in International Handbooks and Magazines.
Michal Piechocki
holds a Masters degree in Economics from the Poznan University of Economics in the field of Capital Investments and Financial Corporate Strategies. Currently Michal is the co-owner and serves as Board Member and CEO of the Business Reporting – Advisory Group., which among other advises central banks on COREP/FINREP XBRL implementation and helps government entities and stock exchanges adopt XBRL for business and tax reporting purposes. He is a also a member of the XBRL Quality Review Team and leader at XBRL International Taxonomy Development Trainings. As a member of the IASC Foundation XBRL Team Michal contributed to the development of the IFRS-GP XBRL taxonomy and related projects, particularly he coordinated technical side of the ECCBSO project. He was the author of a number of solutions to the technical XBRL issues published by the IASC Foundation XBRL Team and contributed to the development of various IFRS-GP extension’s architectures (i.e. Australian AASB/ASX taxonomies).
