The 2011 Abu Dhabi Gallup first Forum was a much-needed and timely gathering of scholars, activists, and policymakers at this very Year of the Arab Spring. The important Gallup reports that were made available, the diversity of the participants' backgrounds and political positions, the skill by which the organizers chaired the sessions, as well as the magnificent venue - all produced a very successful and meaningful forum. Thank you, Abu Dhabi Gallup, and looking forward to future reports and forums.

This was a rare opportunity for diverse stakeholders to engage in solution-oriented dialogue around meaningful polling data compiled by the Abu Dhabi Gallup Center. The 2011 Gallup Forum, including the working group on public-private partnerships chaired by the Aspen Institute, will generate practical recommendations responding to the data and inspire many of us to refine the way we ourselves implement programs in the Middle East and North Africa during this year of the Arab Spring and beyond.

The forum was a platform where discussions were not only based on the research findings and data of the Abu Dhabi Gallup Center, but also building on the experience and knowledge of practitioners who are changing things on the ground. Combining both resulted in enriching conversations that gave us a better understanding of the efforts and partnerships needed to address issues related to employment, empowerment, and citizenship in the Arab world.
